Aesthetic Care, Grounded in Surgical Expertise

Oculoplastic surgery has always sat at an odd intersection. A surgeon repairing a drooping eyelid is solving a functional problem, but they are also making an aesthetic decision with every incision, because the result has to look right on a face. That overlap is where this practice began.

Patients kept asking. Someone would come in for a medical concern, notice the surgical work we do around the eyes, and ask whether we could help with something they had been thinking about for years. For a long time the answer was to squeeze it into a general ophthalmology schedule, which served nobody well.

Island Eye and Face is the answer to that. Same physicians, same standard, but a practice built around aesthetic work rather than fitting it between other appointments. You get unhurried consultations, appropriate time blocks, and a setting that does not feel like a medical waiting room.

Meet the Team

Island Eye and Face is led by the same fellowship-trained, board-certified ophthalmologists who care for patients at Island Eye Specialists. Each brings a background spanning clinical excellence, military service, and academic leadership, and that experience carries directly into the aesthetic work they do.

Dr. Thomas J. Avallone, MD, founder and medical director, built the practice on specialized, patient-first care. Dr. Todd J. Mondzelewski, MD, brings the perspective of both an experienced ophthalmologist and an educator. Dr. Katie Topping, MD, leads our oculoplastic and facial aesthetics work with a refined surgical eye. Dr. Paul Ware, MD, is a comprehensive ophthalmologist focused on complete, everyday eye health.

What sets the team apart is not the credentials alone. It is the way they listen, plan, and treat with a precision that feels personal.

What We Practice By

Every interaction reflects the values the practice is built on: honor, duty, integrity, service, respect, and safety. In an aesthetic setting those words carry specific weight.

Integrity means telling you when a treatment will not give you the result you are picturing. Safety means declining to treat when the risk does not justify the benefit. Respect means your goals set the direction, not a menu we are trying to move.

You will not be upsold here. If the smaller intervention will do the job, that is what we will recommend.
